There are only about 4,500 full-time business brokers nationwide to guide them. Over the next decade, millions of Legacy Business Owners will transition the businesses they spent a lifetime building, and the demand for experienced business brokers has never been greater.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is this a job or a franchise?

First Choice Business Brokers is a franchise opportunity, not a job or employment position. As an FCBB franchise owner, you own and operate your own business brokerage franchise, backed by a proven system, comprehensive foundational and on-going training, technology, tools, an established brand, and back-office support designed to help you build and grow your business.

Founded in 1994, First Choice Business Brokers brings over 30 years of experience in business sales and a proven business brokerage model. Franchise owners have the independence of business ownership with the systems, resources, and support of an established national brand and staff behind them.

  • Do I need business brokerage or M&A experience?

No. You do not need prior business sales or M&A experience to become a First Choice Business Brokers franchise owner. FCBB provides comprehensive training in business brokerage, valuation and business sales, supported by proven systems, technology, tools, and ongoing support.

FCBB franchise owners come from a wide range of professional backgrounds, including business ownership, executive leadership, accounting and finance, real estate, sales, and other professional services. Many bring transferable skills such as business acumen, financial understanding, relationship building, negotiation, and experience working with business owners.

You bring the professional experience you've already built; FCBB provides the business brokerage and M&A training, systems, and support to help you apply those skills in a new way.

  • What does the investment look like?

The current initial franchise fee is $45,000. The estimated initial investment is under $100,000 and includes our initial FCBB Kick-Start Marketing Program and training. A detailed breakdown of anticipated expenses is disclosed in the First Choice Business Brokers Franchise Disclosure Document (FDD) .

During the discovery process, our Franchise Development team will discuss the franchise model and investment with you, provide the FDD at the appropriate stage, and answer your questions so you can make an informed decision about whether FCBB is the right business opportunity for you.

  • How much support will I get?

More than 30 years of proven training, systems, and support, plus a national network of trusted partners and referral sources. From initial training through ongoing operations, marketing, and technology, you'll have the resources to build a successful franchise from day one.

  • What happens after I submit this form?

After you submit the form, you'll have the opportunity to schedule a brief introductory call with the First Choice Business Brokers Franchise Development team. This first conversation gives us an opportunity to learn more about your background and the market you're interested in while giving you an opportunity to learn more about FCBB, how the business model works, and what franchise ownership looks like.

There is no obligation to move forward. The franchise discovery process is designed to allow both you and FCBB to determine whether there is a good fit before moving to the next step.

SME (Linda) NOTE: Marketing's original specifies a 15-minute call. Retain “15-minute” if that is the standard scheduling option currently presented immediately after form submission.

  • How does my accounting, finance, or financial-services experience translate to business brokerage?

A background in accounting, finance, banking, lending, wealth management, or other financial services can provide a strong foundation for owning and building a business brokerage. Financial professionals often already understand business operations, financial performance, valuation concepts, and how to have important conversations with business owners.

Those skills translate well to business brokerage, where brokers help owners understand value, prepare their businesses for market, identify and qualify buyers, navigate negotiations and due diligence, and manage transactions through closing.

You don't need previous business brokerage or M&A experience. First Choice University (FCU) combines online learning with live, interactive instructor-led webinars, while FCBB provides the systems, technology, tools, ongoing education, and support to help you apply your existing expertise in a new way.

And the opportunity goes beyond becoming a broker. FCBB is designed to help you build and scale a business brokerage office, develop a commission-based team of trained brokers, and build a business asset of your own.

  • Do I need a sales background to be successful in business brokerage?

Yes. An established network of business owners and professional relationships can provide a valuable foundation and help accelerate the development of your business brokerage. Financial professionals often spend years developing trust with business owners, lenders, attorneys, wealth advisors, CPAs, and other professionals who may encounter owners considering a future sale or transition.

Business brokerage is highly relationship-driven. Your existing network can help you establish referral relationships, expand your local presence, and open conversations with business owners who may need guidance as they begin thinking about succession, valuation, or selling their business.

FCBB provides the training, marketing resources, technology, systems, and business development tools to help you build on those relationships while expanding your reach into the broader business community.

The relationships you've spent years developing don't have to be left behind when you move into business brokerage—they can become part of the foundation for what you build next.

  • What is the demand for business brokers in today's market?

Yes. The First Choice Business Brokers franchise model is designed to help you build and scale a business brokerage office—not simply create another individual professional practice that depends entirely on you.

As a franchise owner, you can participate directly in business sale transactions while also developing a commission-based team of trained business brokers. As your team grows, you can increase the transaction capacity of your office, expand your local market presence, and build relationships with more business owners and professional referral sources.

FCBB supports that growth by providing foundational business brokerage training for the brokers you add to your team, along with established systems, technology, marketing resources, ongoing education, and corporate support. You provide the local leadership and mentorship while FCBB provides the infrastructure to help support the operation.

Financial professionals may also bring another valuable advantage: an established network of professional counterparts. Relationships with CPAs, accountants, bankers, lenders, wealth advisors, attorneys, and other trusted advisors can become an important source of referrals as those professionals encounter business owners considering succession, valuation, or the sale of their businesses.

The objective is to build more than your own book of business. It is the opportunity to build an established brokerage office—with a team, systems, relationships, transaction activity, and market presence—that can become a valuable business asset of its own.

  • How does First Choice Business Brokers train financial professionals who have never sold a business?

You don't need previous business brokerage or M&A experience. FCBB provides the specialized training, systems, and ongoing support to help you apply the business and financial knowledge you already have to the business brokerage industry.

Training begins with First Choice University (FCU), which combines online learning with live, interactive instructor-led webinars. FCU teaches the fundamentals of business brokerage, including business valuation, securing listings, working with buyers and sellers, confidentially marketing businesses for sale, negotiations, due diligence, and managing transactions through closing.

The learning doesn't stop when initial training ends. Franchise owners have access to ongoing continuing education, coaching, a dedicated Franchise Success Coach, established forms and processes, technology and business development tools, and specialized resources for deal structure and transaction strategy.

As you build your office, FCBB also provides foundational training for the brokers you add to your team, while you continue their development through local mentorship and leadership.

You bring the financial knowledge, professional experience, and understanding of business. FCBB provides the business brokerage training, systems, and support to help you turn that experience into a business brokerage of your own.
